TIMMY’S RIDE RAISES $2,150 FOR BIG "R" & SMOKIN' JOE'S HOSPICE BENEFIT

“The Clare-Farwell American Legion Post 588 held a combination Mystery Bus Trip & Motorcycle Run dubbed “TIMMY’S RIDE” on September 27 to raise funds for Hospice. “Timmy’s Ride” was organized in honor of Timmy Mulrenin who had been dealing with a brain tumor for 12 years. He succumbed in August 2014 at the age of 33. Timmy was an inspiration to all who knew him right up to the end of his life.
“Timmy’s Ride” was a sold out success raising $2,150! Pictured are Timmy’s parents, Carolyn and Bob Mulrenin presenting the check to Randy Easlick the host of Big "R" & Smokin' Joe's Hospice Benefit. Each of Timmy's siblings (Shannon Golze, Sue Riedel, Rob Mulrenin, Kathy Dettloff) were on the bus and were the leaders of the four "gangs" around which the day's activities were organized.
Timmy and his family benefited greatly from the services of Hospice with special recognition to Julia. "Timmy's Ride" was a 100% success due to the organizational efforts of Aaron Moline and the American Legion Riders, The Sons of the American Legion, The Forgotten Eagles and many bikers who enthusiastically provided an escort for the 150 mile tour.
The Mulrenin family expressed a heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part in "Timmy's Ride" and shared their love for this young man who is a blessing from God.

2014 Big "R" & Smokin' Joe's Hospice benefit event

Singer Haley Ann brought her talent to the stage as people started coming into the Clare Moose Lodge for a day
filled with good food, good people, good music, and a lot of fundraising activities.
Our Silent and Live Auction items donated by many local businesses and individuals brought in big bucks, along with the delicious looking Bake Sale tables, to meet everyone’s sweet tooth.
The evening brought “SouthBound Revival “and “ Night Shift “ to people under the tent for some good ole Rock n Roll.
We want to thank these fine musicians for donating their time for such a worthy cause,
and hope they will return for next year’s benefit, along with all donors listed here.
We want to thank our Radio Sponsors: MARTIN HEATING & COOLING of Clare, CAL’S PAINTING of Farwell, and
GONDEK’S BODY & FRAME of Reed City for helping get the word out to
all the listeners on WUPS 98.5. Thank You Michael J.
It takes a lot of time and hard work to put these events together and we cannot thank our Volunteers enough.
Without them and the support from our community none of this would be possible.
When this all began 9 years ago, the main goal for Big “R” and Smokin’ Joe’s
was to build a Hospice House for Clare County.
This year we will start that process.
We know this will take a lot of leg work… research…. grants to be applied for, and a lot of paperwork…. but with continued support from the community, we believe our goal will be reached.
In the meantime, we will continue to support Mid MI Home Care with $5,000 from this year’s fundraisers
to care for our Clare Co. Hospice Patients.
Monies leftover have been put into an account for our future Hospice House.
Again, we give THANKS to everyone involved and to the businesses for all your support and hope
next year’s fundraisers are as successful as years past.
